Ordinary on the outside
Faith Church looks
pretty traditional on the outside. It's a brick building across the street
from Holland Hospital. It has wooden pews, a stage, and organ pipes
behind the pulpit. It was built in the 60's before churches started
experimenting with the "big box" designs that resemble Walmart, but
it's up to date with top-notch video and sound systems, including
digital aids for the hearing impaired. Our services are even televised
on Comcast Channel 14.
But it's not the
outside that counts. And what's going on inside that
makes all the difference. Faith Church is more than a place. It's a
movement. It's an experiment in reconciliation of the races. It's a
rest stop for hurting people from all walks of life, all economic
conditions, and all physical abilities.
Worship at Faith
Worship
is every
Sunday at 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM. No two services are alike. Sometimes
the music is led by guitars, drums and a keyboard; sometimes the
organist takes the lead. We're always on the lookout for new songs and
blending them with the more familiar tunes. Frequently you'll get a
taste of other forms of worship like sacred dance from some of our own
talented girls, or special music by a guest artist. But you can always
count on solid soul-food - preaching that explains the Bible, puts it
in context, and makes it relevant to your life, your challenges, and
your pain.
After Worship
After the morning service,
you'll have lots of options. First, we'll welcome you with a cup of
coffee, cappuccino, tea or juice, and a cookie if you like. Then there
are a variety of classes to choose from for kids and adults alike. You
can browse through the library for books or videos that might interest
you or your family. The choir typically practices at that time if you'd
just like to sit in and listen. Everyone is usually on their way home
around noon.
